21st Informative & Training Symposium
Safety and availability of power equipment
October 3-4, 2019

Aim of symposium

Among the requirements, which should be met by power equipment and which are often mutually contradictory, two of them, ie. safety and availability, have the highest status. Both of them depend mainly on the technical condition of the equipment. Both of them are under strong economic pressure even though it is said that safety has no price. Safety is also supported by appropriate legal regulations, especially for these pieces of power equipment which are subject to the Office of Technical Inspection. Proper technical condition should be accompanied by appropriate standards and guidelines as well as high competences in the field of operation, diagnostics and overhauls.

It seems that in the foreseeable future the list of problems and priorities will not change. However, the difficulties in this area may increase. The noticeable decrease in technical competence may be faster than lifetime decrease of long time operated power units - especially that operating conditions for power units designed in distant times will be more difficult to meet.

We hope that this year’s Symposium will be an opportunity not only to identify and review current problems related to the safety and availability of power equipment, but also to create conditions for the presentation of solutions, especially innovative ones, using new ideas and the latest technologies.
